FO: Ruffled Reticule
By Liss | October 2, 2007
My ruffled reticule1 started out from this pattern, but was somewhat heavily edited. It was originally going to be a tiny bag made out of two skeins of Plymouth Boku bought on our quick trip to Yellowstone, but it grew in my head and then in my hands. I had to purchase two more skeins of yarn from WEBS.
Yarn: Plymouth Boku, Colorway #12
Needles: Knitpicks Options Size #7, starting out with a 24″ cord, eventually ending up on a 60″ one to handle all the ruffle increases for the top; bamboo #7 DPNs for the i-cord strap.
The hanging picture sucks, but I’m tired and don’t feel like trying to keep shooting until I come up with something perfect. You can get the general idea from the above pictures. The close up is true to color, with objects added for size comparison. You can click on either picture to see a larger version on Flickr.
It is relatively lightly fulled (”felted”) and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. I’m going to wear it out today and will see what I think. I may full it more. If you would like to see pre-fulling pictures, they’re available here and here. There is a pre-fulled picture that includes the same size comparison objects as above, so you can see the change in size.
Now, I need to work on Gabriel’s Halloween project and Loree’s sooper sekrit one that she’s been waiting on for ages. This one temporarily took priority because I needed a larger bag. Now, I don’t even know if I’ll use it. It’s awfully, um. . .ruffly.
1 reticule: n 1: a woman’s drawstring handbag; usually made of net or beading or brocade; used in 18th and 19th centuries.

Hee. Thanks. I hope so. I’ve never been much for ruffles, but I’ll try it!
